Tierra Stone's Biography

Born and raised in Baltimore Maryland, Tierra has been exposed to a myriad of cultures and creative expressions. She developed an interest in creative writing and theatre from a young age, but it was Multimedia Journalism that stole her heart and took her to Morgan State University.

Tierra is currently in her junior year at Morgan State where she previously worked as a staff writer for The Spokesman. Although Tierra continues the journey of completing her undergraduate degree, she hopes that her work as a student journalist will carry her towards her future goal of one day working for the Today Show or Dateline NBC.

During the Spring semester of 2022, Tierra was enrolled as a student in COMM 201 which is an introductory course to journalism and communications. The students were assigned a semester project which was a mixture of all of the materials that were taught during that year.

The project included elements such as podcasting, video, and an article that showcased any topic that interested the students.
Tierra's semester project detailed the rise and fall of African Americans in the Catholic Church, which ultimately was published on the school's radio broadcast website WEAA.

Last summer, Ms. Stone interned at the Baltimore AFRO American Newspaper and has recently written articles regarding climate change, the Sonya Massey case, and a union workers protest in downtown Baltimore.
